Gear

There are lots of things needed for any successful trip. No matter what terrain, what weather, and what length of your trip, you’ll want a quality pair of hiking boots. Boots can make or break a trip, and a bad pair can jeopardize your trip. Boots should be fitted tight when wearing a thick pair of socks and sock liners. Socks will depend on the weather, but generally as a rule, the thicker the socks the more comfortable your feet will be. For longer hikes, sock liners are a must. These are a thin nylon layer between your feet and the wool socks, and they will prevent blisters and help to preserve your feet.

Clothes and packs will vary from trip to trip. The most important thing to remember is that layering is key. It is far better to wear three light layers than a single heavy one. Layers can be easily taken off or put on, meaning that it makes it easy to adjust with the temperature.
